Sleep System and Pack
Kalalau Beach is typically a warm environment offering various options for your overnights such as tents or hammocks. Hanaoka is a little cooler and sometimes wetter during the night. Here is the gear I'd like to bring to keep me comfortable and transport my stuff:
Sea to Summit Reactor Extreme Liner
Especially in the summer months, a sleeping back is typically overkill. This lightweight bag liner works great and offers some nice options such as open bottom and hood, so you can adjust it to your liking.

Sea to Summit Spark ultralight "liner"
Technically this is a "liner", but it's really a sleeping bag for warmer temperatures. Packs super small and is extremely light. Great for cooler nights where the traditional bag liners reach their limits.

Osprey Atmos AG 65
While not the lightest pack on the market, the Atmos has lots of great storage options and "hugs" your body without compromising breathability. I find the sleeping bag compartment particularly useful for quick access.

Hennessy Hammock
A well thought-out, lightweight hammock with mosquito net and rain tarp. With a little practice it's easy and quick to set up. It allows you to sleep diagonally, which allows you to sleep relatively flat (vs. the dreaded "banana shape").
